Gold Slope Strategy (XAUUSD, H4)
A higher-timeframe swing framework for XAUUSD on H4.
We combine structure, slope of trend EMAs and a simple momentum confirm. We only act when all three align — and we do nothing when slope is flat.
Tools
- EMA20 & EMA50: directional slope guide.
- Market structure: HH/HL for uptrends, LH/LL for downtrends.
- ATR(14, H4) for stops and position sizing; optional RSI(14) for momentum check.

Market logic
Gold often trends in impulsive waves followed by orderly pullbacks. Trading with slope filters out most chop and late reversals.
Setup checklist
- Slope: both EMA20 and EMA50 point the same way and are properly separated.
- Structure: price makes HL above EMA20 in uptrends (or LH below EMA20 in downtrends).
- Momentum: RSI holds >50 for longs (<50 for shorts) or last swing breaks in trend direction.
Trigger
- Long: rejection candle at EMA20/previous swing that closes in trend direction.
- Short: mirror logic for downtrends.

Entry
- Enter on close of the trigger bar, or limit at a partial pullback into the signal zone.
Stop Loss
- Below the pullback low for longs (above pullback high for shorts) or ATR(14) × 1.2–1.6 (wider of the two).
Take Profit / Management
- TP1: scale 1/2 at 1.5R.
- TP2: trail rest behind swing lows/highs or EMA20; step aside into major session/weekly levels.

Filters & risk
- Skip when EMA slopes are flat/entangled or during range weeks.
- Stand aside around tier-1 USD data and FOMC.
- Risk ≤ 0.5% per position; max one active position in the same direction.
